Protective Custody Dispatch Work is one of the new missions added to GTA Online alongside Civil Forfeiture in the latest Dispatch Work update. During this work, you must escort a corrupt cop to a specific location, deal with a group of enemies, maintain high speed, and disarm a bomb. It is one of the more mechanically layered Dispatch Work missions available.

The Protective Custody Dispatch Work pays out $25,000 GTA$ on completion. With the 2x GTA$ and RP bonus active until April 15, 2026 (3x for GTA+ members), it is worth running to make the most of the event window in GTA Online.

How to unlock Dispatch Work in GTA Online

The unlock process is the same as Civil Forfeiture Dispatch Work. Complete Slush Fund from The Cluckin’ Bell Farm Raid as leader; the full raid is not required, just that mission.

Next, own a police vehicle from Warstock Cache & Carry, then get in the cop car and press R3 or the horn button to request Dispatch Work. Press right on the D-pad/E on your PC to accept and launch the mission.

Steps to complete Protective Custody Dispatch Work in GTA Online

Once Protective Custody Dispatch Work is launched, head to the Vinewood Police Station, which is marked on the minimap. Collect the Police Transporter there – it is carrying a corrupt cop who needs to be transferred to Bolingbroke Penitentiary. The route is shown on the minimap and covers roughly 4 to 4.5 km from the station. Start driving and follow the route.

Part of the way into the drive, a radio intercept comes through warning that a ‘bomb was strapped to the undercarriage of the transporter’. The mission shifts entirely at this point. Speed becomes the priority, as the bomb is on a detonation trigger tied to how fast the vehicle is moving.

Two bars appear in the bottom right of the screen: Detonation and Speed. The goal is to keep the Speed bar high enough to prevent the Detonation bar from climbing into the red.

The main threat here is crashing. A collision that drops speed significantly will push the Detonation bar toward the danger zone. Drive cleanly, avoid traffic where possible, and maintain a steady pace throughout.

After a period of driving, a disarm code is transmitted. Press right on the D-pad (controller) / E on the PC to begin the disarming process. A button sequence appears on screen that needs to be entered correctly.

There are three separate sequences in total, each one displayed as on-screen prompts. Follow each one accurately, as getting a sequence wrong triggers the bomb and fails the mission.

Once the bomb is disarmed, the radio comes through again that the enemies are now moving in to intercept and prevent the prisoner from reaching Bolingbroke. They will attempt to ram and shoot the transporter during the final stretch.

Engaging them fully is not necessary. Taking out a few to create space, then pushing hard toward the destination, is the faster approach.

Drive into the Bolingbroke Penitentiary marker, drop the prisoner, and leave the area. This completes the Protective Custody Dispatch Work, and you’ll be rewarded with $25,000 GTA$ and RP.
