As ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 reaches its climax, tens of thousands of cricket fans are expected to descend on Ahmedabad for the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday.
With a seating capacity of about 1.32 lakh, the Motera venue, the world’s largest cricket stadium, is preparing for one of the biggest nights in international cricket.
For fans travelling to the city, securing tickets, finding accommodation and navigating match-day logistics have become key concerns.
Here is a guide to help spectators attending the final.
Ticket availability
Demand for tickets has surged ahead of the final, with most categories on official booking platforms already marked “sold out.”
Tickets are available through the official International Cricket Council portal and BookMyShow, though only limited availability remains. Entry-level seats were priced from around Rs 3,000, while premium hospitality and club lounge packages have been listed between Rs 50,000 and Rs 75,000.
Fans still hoping to secure a seat may get another chance. Historically, organisers release a small batch of additional tickets 24 to 48 hours before the final, a trend seen earlier during the tournament’s semi-final matches as well.
Hotel prices surge as Ahmedabad fills up
Accommodation across Ahmedabad has seen a sharp spike in demand as fans and team supporters arrive for the final.
Luxury properties such as ITC Narmada and Taj Skyline are reporting nearly 100 percent occupancy, with match-eve room rates ranging from Rs 60,000 to Rs 1,00,000 per night.
Travellers looking for relatively affordable options are increasingly booking stays in nearby Gandhinagar or Ahmedabad’s Prahlad Nagar area, where hotels are charging between Rs 15,000 and Rs 25,000 per night.
How to reach the stadium
City authorities expect heavy congestion around Motera Cross Roads and the Sabarmati riverfront area on match day.
Officials recommend using the Ahmedabad Metro, particularly the Red Line, which connects to Motera Stadium Metro Station — a stop designed to handle large match-day crowds heading to the venue.
Visitors arriving via Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport can reach the city through metro connections or app-based taxis. However, ride-hailing platforms such as Uber and Ola are expected to apply surge pricing due to high demand.
Entry rules and security protocols
Security measures at Narendra Modi Stadium will be among the strictest seen at a cricket event in India.
Several items are strictly prohibited inside the stadium, including bags of any size, power banks, water bottles and umbrellas. Spectators are advised to carry only essential items such as their mobile phone and wallet.
Fans should also download their digital ticket in advance, as mobile network connectivity around the stadium may become unreliable once crowds gather.
With the final expected to attract more than a lakh spectators, Ahmedabad is bracing for an electric atmosphere as the T20 World Cup crowns its new champion.
