Man Utd make Guimaraes transfer ‘decision’ for ‘three reasons’ after meeting
Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes has been linked with a move to Manchester United ahead of the summer transfer window
Manchester United continue to be linked with a move for Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes. The Reds will have to wait until the summer transfer window opens before they are able to go into the market for reinforcements, with Guimaraes emerging as a potential target.
United have been heavily linked with signing a new midfielder when the transfer window opens, with those rumours intensifying since it was confirmed that Casemiro would be leaving Old Trafford when his contract expires at the end of the season.
A report in Brazilian news outlet UOL has claimed that United have already held talks with Guimaraes’ representatives over a potential move this summer.

Guimaraes is reportedly a player of interest to United due to his valuable experience in the Premier League so far, as well as his leadership skills and a potential price tag in the region of €70million (£60.8million).
This fee is one that United are reported to deem affordable this summer, although it has not been stated at what point, if at all, the Reds could make an offer to Newcastle in an effort to try and sign their star midfielder.
Guimaraes is currently recovering from a hamstring injury which has seen the midfielder be unavailable for Newcastle’s last 11 matches across all competitions. The Brazilian has not featured for the Magpies since February 10.
Newcastle boss Eddie Howe was asked about the recent speculation linking United with a move for Guimaraes, particularly suggestions of talks already being held about a potential transfer.
“I don’t think I have to respond to that. It is a waste of my energy,” Howe said, via Chronicle Live. “Bruno is our captain and he is fully committed at the moment. He is injured at the moment; his only focus is coming back to fitness.”
Howe added: “I am going to be impolite, for me it is a nonsense story. Is it a problem for us? I don’t necessarily think it is a problem for us.
“But it is unwanted news, I suppose, is the best way to put it. You don’t want the players distracted I don’t know how much they will absorb that.
“For me, it is not the time to think about it. In the summer, you can understand those stories a little bit more because the transfer window is open.
“To say our captain is in discussions with another club is totally disrespectful to Bruno more than anything else, he is totally committed here.”
