A firefighter was taken to the hospital with minor injuries after a fire in Bedford, N.S., early Sunday.

Roughly 13 firefighting crews were called to the scene around 8:30 a.m.

The fire started in JetLegend, a newly opened restaurant. It is a former IHOP location.

Other businesses attached to the restaurant were not damaged. 

Brad Connors, the district chief of operations for Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency, said the business has extensive damage.

The fire is being investigated.

On Sunday afternoon, crews were working with property management to reopen adjacent businesses.
