The stage is now set. After the FIFA 2026 World Cup draw which took place on Friday at the John F. The USMNT will kick off their World Cup run against Paraguay on June 12 in Los Angeles at 9 p.m. ET before meeting Australia on June 19 at 3 p.m. ET in Seattle and then heading back to Los Angeles where on June 25 they will face the winner of the UEFA playoff at 10 p.m.

Matchups to watch

Cristiano Ronaldo vs. Lionel Messi: This is expected to be the last World Cup of both soccer iconic legends Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, who consistently shined over the past two decades around the world. For years, the two had some incredible matchups especially when Cristiano Ronaldo was playing for Real Madrid and Lionel Messi for Barcelona and now they have a concrete chance to meet again at the 2026 World Cup. If both Portugal and Argentina will win their respective groups, the two sides can meet at the quarter finals.

Kylian Mbappe vs. Erling Haaland: There is an early matchup we will definitely see at the 2026 World Cup as France and Norway are both in group I and will meet in the last match day on Friday, June 26. It means that Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland, two of the best strikers in the world, will meet in the first phase of the tournament next summer at 3 p.m. in Boston.

Lamine Yamal vs. Lionel Messi: Apart of the Cristiano Ronaldo vs. Lionel Messi matchup, there is another one that would excite the global stage between the Argentinian star and Lamine Yamal, who is set to play his first ever World Cup with Spain. However, due to the drawing procedures and rules, the two top teams of the FIFA rankings can only meet in the final that will take place on July 2026 at the New York New Jersey Stadium.
