He may be our current prime minister but as far as Donald Trump is concerned, Mark Carney is merely the “future governor of Canada.”

Trump took the jab while discussing his and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s efforts to combat invasive Asian carp in the Great Lakes, listing several U.S. governors he said would be asked to participate — before adding Carney to the list.

“I’ll be asking other Governors to join into this fight, including those of Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, New York and, of course, the future Governor of Canada, Mark Carney, who I know will be happy to contribute to this worthy cause,” Trump wrote Tuesday on Truth Social, along with a video of what appears to be silver carp jumping out of water.

The swipe comes more than a year after Trump gave the “governor” title to former prime minister Justin Trudeau and proposed that Canada become America’s 51st state.

“Separately, I am also working to save The Great Salt Lake, in Utah, which, in a short period of time, if nothing is done, will have no water,” Trump added in the post.

“This is on top of everything else I am doing,” he pointed out. “Only ‘TRUMP’ CAN DO IT! President DONALD J. TRUMP.”

Heightened tension between Canada and the U.S. continues over trade, foreign policy, and economic relations.

It also comes more than a week after Carney flip-flopped his stance on the war in Iran, with the prime minister’s initial comments showing support for American and Israeli strikes on Iran and maintaining security in the Middle East — until caving days later and calling Operation Epic Fury illegal.

The PMO’s office has not publicly responded to Trump’s latest mockery of Canada’s sovereignty.
