David Bailey NFL Draft Projection: 5 best landing spots for Texas Tech LB
David Bailey has a shot to be a top five pick in the NFL draft in April. After arguably the most dominant season in the FBS in 2025, plenty of teams are likely to line up for the pass rusher. Of course, depending on the run on quarterbacks and other more attractive positions, Bailey has a chance to slip a handful of spots into the middle of the first round.
As such, most of the NFL could end up with a shot at him if they are willing to pay the price. Here’s a look at which teams could pull the trigger on Bailey.

#5 – Las Vegas Raiders
The Las Vegas Raiders have a need at quarterback and are likely to pick Fernando Mendoza. However, on the slim chance that the team trades down a spot and takes an under-the-radar quarterback like Ty Simpson or Carson Beck, it would perhaps have a shot at Bailey.
With Maxx Crosby troubles bubbling below the surface and also the prospect of creating one of the best pass rush duos overnight, the Raiders have to be at least in the conversation to nab Bailey, even if the team trades back into the first round to get him.
#4 – Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys would take some heat from fans, reminding Jerry Jones that he already had a player of David Bailey’s caliber on his roster. However, Jones would still be ahead if he spent a first-round pick on getting a Parsons successor, considering the Cowboys received a 2026 and 2027 pick (Cowboys media).
#3 – New Orleans Saints
The Saints appear to be moving on from Cam Jordan after a double-digit sack season, and the team will need the sacks to come from somewhere. Armed with the eighth overall pick, New Orleans would be squarely in range to get the pass rusher. Bailey led the Big-12 in tackles for loss and the entire FBS in sacks, so the odds are good that New Orleans will have found a quality successor to Jordan.

#2 – New York Giants
The New York Giants saw flashes from Abdul Carter and could pair him with David Bailey to create one of the best young pass rush duos in the NFL. New York doesn’t have to worry about drafting a quarterback this year, so it has the luxury of filling out the roster and creating a new strength in the process.
#1 – Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs may only view the NFL draft’s first round as an opportunity to get one of two positions: running back and pass rusher. Chris Jones isn’t getting any younger, and with the sack numbers ranking poorly out of 32 NFL teams, adding David Bailey would be a step toward taking pressure off Patrick Mahomes, perhaps giving him one extra drive in some games.
