Crimson Desert presents a lot of locked doors to the players during their exploration. Almost 90% of the doors placed at the base of a random house or a structure often ends up being locked, asking players to use to key to proceed. Getting hold of these keys can be confusing for many, as they are scattered across multiple places in the game, be it from enemies, vendors, or abandoned houses.

This article guides you towards unlocking the “key required” doors, and a trick to bypass them.

Crimson Desert: Guide to unlocking “key required” doors

Each locked doors can be unlocked using a key. There’s no different categories for keys in Crimson Desert, as getting enough keys in the game should mean that you can now access almost every locked door, be it for a abandoned house, a main door of a manor, or a random room inside a manor. However, getting hold of these keys can be tricky, as the game doesn’t hold hands when it comes to earning them.

To start off, you can try purchasing keys from the Goblin vendor located just outside the main Hernand town, behind the church and under the windmill.

The vendor’s name is Grimrak, who sells 3 keys for 30c each. Once you buy all three keys, you can then wait for his stock to refill after approximately 5 in-game days.

The second option for keys is to defeat bandits in the open world and then loot their bodies. However, there is a rare chance for a key to drop from them. Larger strongholds holds over 100 enemies, which can increase your chance at getting keys.

Lastly, you can pick up/steal keys from several random locations in Hernand. For example, upon entering the Church in the town, a key can be stole from the table located at the end of the hallway, as shown in the image below.

The main entry points of several houses and manors in towns or villages can be accessed using these keys. However, it is recommended that you look for another way in, as using a window, if available, to enter a building will help save your key stock.

In such cases, make sure to also turn your lantern off, as keeping it on makes it hard to properly interact with a window during climbing.

Furthermore, stealing from these houses also reduces your standing with a faction, which is not worth the trouble. Hence, keep your keys saved until you are positive that the other side of these doors hold a valuable item.
