Міністр економіки, довкілля та сільського господарства Олексій Соболев наголосив, що передача ДАР у державну власність — не просто завершення чергового технічного етапу, а свідчення інституційної зрілості України та готовності не лише залучати міжнародну підтримку, а й професійно управляти сучасними цифровими інструментами розвитку.

The trial of a man accused in a bizarre, slow-speed police chase down Highway 1 in Surrey has been delayed.

Mailkiat Shoker was allegedly behind the wheel of a tractor, taking part in an anti-SOGI road rally in November 2023, when the tractor flipped while being chased by police.

Shoker was charged with dangerous driving, flight from police, and assaulting a peace officer with a weapon.

His trial was set to start on Monday, but has been delayed because his defence counsel is stick with bronchitis.

“Well, I wanted to get it over with, but you can only do what you can do right,” Shoker told Global News outside the courthouse on Monday.

He admits he was participating in a Stop SOGI 123 road rally on the day of the alleged offences.

SOGI 123 is a resource package designed to help teachers and school administrators reduce discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in their curriculum.

“I was part of the peaceful convoy for SOGI 123,” Shoker said, adding that he intends to plead not guilty.

B.C.’s police watchdog was cleared of any wrongdoing in relation to the crash.

Crown noted that the case is approaching the limit set for trial delays by the Supreme Court of Canada, but one former Crown prosecutor says dangerous driving cases are complex.

“So if we take the time from December 2024 to February 2026, we’re at 15 months, so we’re still under that 18-month Jordan deadline; there’s three months left to clear,” Rob Dhanu, K.C. said.

With Surrey now the busiest courthouse in B.C., Dhanu says counsel will be looking at least into summer, possibly fall or even early 2027, for a new trial date.

A manhunt is underway in Missouri after a deputy was shot and killed Monday afternoon.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the alert was issued out of Highlandville following the fatal shooting of a Christian County deputy just before 4 p.m. 

The suspect vehicle has been identified as a white 2001 Chevrolet Silverado extended cab pickup truck with Missouri license plate 9MGX36.

Authorities said the truck was seen in the area of the shooting and was last reported traveling southbound on US Route 160 from Route HH in Christian County. US 160 runs south through southern Missouri and crosses into north-central Arkansas east of Harrison.

The vehicle is described as having a silver brush guard, a rusted roof, black body trim, tinted rear windows and a three-ball hitch. No suspect description has been released.

Officials are urging anyone who sees the vehicle not to approach it and to call 911 immediately.

“A deputy in my home county was shot and killed today. Erin and I are praying for his family. May justice be swift,” Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

Sen. Eric Schmitt, R-Mo., called the shooting “a devastating loss in Christian County.”

“As local law enforcement works to bring the suspect to justice, my prayers are with the deputy’s loved ones and those who served shoulder to shoulder with him to keep Missouri safe,” Schmitt wrote in post on X.

Missouri State Rep. Jamie Ray Gragg also shared a message on Facebook following the shooting.

“My heart is broken for our deputy’s family. While they understood that this profession carries risk, senseless acts like this are beyond comprehension,” Gragg wrote.

He asked the community to join him in praying for the deputy’s family and friends, as well as for law enforcement officers “working tirelessly to find this individual while grieving at the same time,” adding that he hopes the situation ends peacefully “with no further bloodshed.”

Blue Alerts are similar to Amber Alerts in that they are designed to quickly notify the public. However, a Blue Alert is issued when a suspect is believed to have seriously injured or killed a law enforcement officer and may pose an ongoing threat.

Fox News Digital reached out to the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Christian County Sheriff’s Office for comment.

The village of Fraser Lake, 135 kilometres west of Prince George as the crow flies, is reeling after a weekend fire destroyed several essential businesses. 

The fire started early Sunday morning around 3 a.m. PT at the Fraser Lake Shopping Centre, the main commercial centre in the village, which was home to about 965 people as of the 2021 census. 

“It was pretty scary,” said Miloud Chokarni, who lives in the trailer court directly behind the shopping centre. He noticed smoke coming into his trailer early that morning and thought it was his stove acting up before he decided to check outside. 

“When I opened the door … I thought it was fog at first, but it was smoke and it was raining ash and chunks of plastic and I instantly started puking from the smoke,” he said. 

“I’ve grown up here, lots of memories in that place. I just couldn’t believe how quick it went.” 

Fraser Lake Fire Rescue arrived on scene at 3:18 a.m. and crews from nearby Fort Fraser, Burns Lake, Fort St. James, and Vanderhoof also assisted.

Firefighters were able to stop the fire from spreading, but it destroyed the Fraser Lake Inn, a cannabis store, and a vacant commercial space. It also destroyed the Everyday Grocery Store, which was one of two grocery stores in the community. 

“I was at the grocery store the evening before, and did my shopping there, and had met somebody outside and we had a chat,” said Fraser Lake resident Michelle Baker. 

“To know that I can’t go back there to do my shopping … it’s really, really heartbreaking and devastating,” she added. “The hotel holds a lot of memories for the people of Fraser Lake, even though our town is a lot quieter now with some of our economic challenges.” 

Fraser Lake Mayor Sarrah Storey said the loss of the businesses is a setback for the community that is still recovering after the closure of the West Fraser sawmill in January 2024, which put many residents out of work. 

“This town has gone through a lot,” said Storey. “We didn’t expect this on the list of things we’ve  had to deal with as a community.” 

Storey said the building was not only economically significant, but it was a social hub of the community, with its heyday in the 1980s and ’90s. 

“It had a lounge and a bar and everybody would go there after hockey games,” she said. “The historical feeling of loss is upsetting people.” 

Storey has launched a fundraising campaign to support Fraser Lake Fire Rescue, which is comprised of volunteers from the village, for its efforts fighting the blaze. 

The mayor says the cause of the fire is under investigation.

1. Втрати у війні

Загальні втрати російських військових становлять близько 1,2 мільйона осіб, з яких до 325 000 загинули, що більш ніж удвічі перевищує кількість жертв в Україні. І хоча Росія довгий час могла залучати добровольців на війну великими виплатами, є ознаки того, що зараз набір добровольців насилу справляється зі зростанням втрат.

“За словами західного чиновника, за останні три місяці Росія щомісяця вербувала від 30 000 до 35 000 солдатів, але кількість загиблих або поранених була набагато більшою”, – пише видання.

Хоча у Росії достатньо військ для підтримки поточних операцій, нестача військ є однією з причин, через які Москві може бути важко домогтися великих проривів, вважають деякі аналітики.

У той же час Україна також зазнає труднощів із набором достатньої кількості особового складу.

“Є деякі ознаки того, що росіяни вербують менше новобранців, але все ж вербують більше, ніж українці”, – заявив генерал-майор Пекка Турунен, начальник військової розвідки Фінляндії.

2. Темпи просування в окремих загальновійськових наступальних операціях

За словами одного західного чиновника, минулого року Росії вдалося захопити лише близько 0,8% території України. Військова розвідка кількох європейських країн оцінює, що Росія продовжить поступово просуватися вперед, але ціною дуже великих втрат:

“Російські війська просуваються в основному пішки так званими інфільтраційними групами – під артилерійським вогнем і атаками безпілотників, намагаючись вижити і чекаючи підкріплення. Ця тактика призводить до важких російських втрат і слабкого контролю над захопленими територіями, що дає Україні можливість дати відсіч”.

3. Удар у відповідь

На початку цього місяця в інтернеті почали поширюватися повідомлення про те, що Україна контратакує на Запоріжжі, де Росія в останні місяці мала перевагу. Солдати заявили, що скористалися проблемами зв’язку Росії після того, як компанія SpaceX Ілона Маска вивела з ладу систему Starlink для російських військових в Україні.

Українські офіцери кажуть, що головна мета полягає не в поверненні земель, а в нанесенні удару по слабкому місцю російських військових і примушенні їх до перекидання власних сил з інших ділянок фронту.

4. Перевага в безпілотниках

Протягом 2025 року Росія неухильно нарощувала перевагу в безпілотниках середньої дальності, які завдавали серйозної шкоди українським лініям постачання, послаблюючи позиції України на передовій.

Росія також модернізувала безпілотники, оснастивши їх контрабандними інтернет-терміналами Starlink, збільшивши дальність їх дії і дозволивши їм обходити українські системи радіоелектронної боротьби, призначені для їх знищення.

Однак на початку цього місяця відключення Starlink обмежило цю перевагу Москви на полі бою. В результаті українські солдати відзначили значне зниження кількості ударів безпілотників по полю бою, поки Росія з усіх сил намагається знайти життєздатну альтернативу.

5. Нафтові проблеми

Нафта є найважливішим джерелом доходу для російської військової машини – і ключовою метою для України та її союзників у чиненні тиску на Москву.

Нові західні санкції, захоплення танкерів “тіньового флоту” і тиск Трампа на Індію з метою скорочення закупівель призвели до зниження цін на основний сорт російської нафти, відомий як “Урал”. Цей сорт тепер торгується зі значною знижкою в порівнянні з міжнародним еталоном Brent.

“Раніше здавалося, що економіка непереможна, доходи і ВВП зростають. Зараз це вже не так”, – каже Яніс Клюге, науковий співробітник Німецького інституту міжнародних відносин і безпеки.

Успіхи України на фронті

Канцлер Німеччини Фрідріх Мерц заявив, що боротьба України проти атак Росії була більш ефективною, ніж про це часто говорили, пославшись на несподівані територіальні досягнення цього місяця.

Як пише Independent, Україні вдалося відновити контроль над 400 кв. км території. Зазначається, що українським військам вдалося взяти під контроль вісім населених пунктів.
