Canucks’ Lankinen delayed by storm in return from Olympics, unlikely to play vs. Jets
Kevin Lankinen is unlikely to suit up against the Winnipeg Jets on Wednesday as his trip back from the Milano-Cortina Olympics was delayed by a major storm on the east coast of the U.S., head coach Adam Foote told reporters on Monday.
Lankinen was a member of Team Finland at the Olympics, though he did not see any game action.
He has an .867 save percentage and 3.67 goals-against average in 32 games this season.
Nikita Tolopilo and Jiri Patera, who have combined for 10 appearances, will serve as the Canucks’ goaltending tandem in Lankinen’s absence.
Regular starter Thatcher Demko is out for the season after undergoing hip surgery.
The Canucks return from the Olympic break sitting last in the NHL with 42 points in 57 games.
After hosting Winnipeg on Wednesday, Vancouver hits the road for a Saturday game against the Seattle Kraken.
