Police in Guelph have arrested a 12-year-old boy after a minivan was stolen in the city and involved in a hit-and-run collision.
Just after 8 a.m. on Jan. 21, a woman reported the theft of her Dodge Caravan overnight from her east-end home.
“She told police her friend’s son had been staying over but was not in the house when she awoke,” a release sent out by police on Tuesday said.
Shortly after that, the woman was contacted by a different police service who told her the minivan had been involved in a hit-and-run with another stolen vehicle. The damage from the collision was estimated at more than $10,000.
On Monday, the Guelph boy went to the police station with a parent and was arrested for the theft of a motor vehicle.
He is set to appear in court in March.
