Indian teenage squash prodigy Anahat Singh’s meteoric rise in the last few years has been phenomenal, to say the least.
In the previous season (2024-25), she won a remarkable nine PSA Challenger titles out of the 11 tournaments she competed in, establishing herself as one of the brightest young talents in world squash.
In the current season (2025-26), she has already scaled a new milestone by winning her maiden PSA World Tour Bronze title at the Squash on Fire Open in Washington last month.
Ranked World No. 20, Anahat is now eager to seal her place for the 2028 LA Olympics by winning the women’s singles gold at the 2026 Asian Games, to be held in Japan in September.
Speaking to The Hindu in a virtual interview on Wednesday, Anahat sounded confident about her prospects.
“I’m really, really looking forward to it. Going into the Asian Games will be a lot different from any other tournament. If I win this event, I will have an automatic selection for the Olympics, which is everyone’s dream. I’m going to push as much as I can and train as hard as I possibly can to try to get a gold,” she said.
The 17-year-old said that by virtue of her ranking, she would now be competing more regularly in Gold and Platinum events, where her goal would be to go deeper into the draw and challenge the world’s best players. “My confidence has grown. I want to do well in bigger events,” she said.
Anahat added she was also looking forward to the JSW Indian Open beginning on March 18 in Mumbai.
“I grew up playing junior events at the venue — CCI International (Mumbai). I want to win the title,” she said.
