Alberta RCMP are investigating after finding the remains of a Calgary resident in a burned vehicle south of Eden Valley, Alta., last month.

On Feb. 4 at approximately 8:30 p.m., police said the Foothills Fire Department, Diamond Valley Fire Department and High River Fire Department responded to a grass fire near Eden Valley, located southwest of Calgary.

Once the fire was extinguished, police said unidentified human remains were found in a burned vehicle nearby.

The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit then took over the investigation.

The deceased has since been identified as a 24-year-old male resident of Calgary.

Police said the death is “suspicious in nature” and an investigation is underway.
