Frank Lampard says Coventry promotion ‘up there’ with Champions League win

Frank Lampard has compared Coventry City’s promotion to his 2012 Champions League win as Chelsea captain, revealing it “comes very, very close”.

The English manager guaranteed the Sky Blues’ return to the Premier League following a 1-1 draw with Blackburn Rovers on Friday (17 April), putting an end to a 25-year exile from the top division.

Speaking during the post-match press conference at Ewood Park, Lampard admitted he “wanted to do it away from home”, praising Coventry’s “dedicated” travelling fans who are “having the night of their lives.”

The Chelsea icon joined the club in November 2024, guiding them to the EFL Championship play-off semifinals at the end of last season.
