City handed early advantage for FA Youth Cup final vs United

Manchester United and Manchester City will meet in the final of the FA Youth Cup next month

Manchester City have been handed an early advantage ahead of the FA Youth Cup final with Manchester United.

The two teams will meet in the final of the Youth Cup for the first time in 40 years when they go head to head next month.

And City have been drawn to play at home in the showpiece, which takes place on Friday, May 9. That means the game will either be at the Joie Stadium, the home of City’s Academy sides, or the Etihad. A decision on that has yet to be taken by the club.

The Blues booked their place in the final last week with a comfortable win over Blackburn Rovers while United beat Crystal Palace on Friday night 2-1 after extra time to earn their spot in the final.

It’s a first final for United since they lifted the trophy in 2022 while City will be playing in their third straight final having beaten Leeds in 2024 before losing to Aston Villa in last year’s showpiece.

This will be City’s eighth appearance in the final in 12 years while United are the competition’s most successful club having lifted the trophy 11 times.
