Oilers to face Ducks in first round as West playoff matchups are set


The Stanley Cup Playoffs matchups are locked in.

With the Edmonton Oilers’ 6-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday, the reigning Western Conference champions will finish second in the Pacific Division and host the Anaheim Ducks in the first round.

Earlier, the Ducks beat the Nashville Predators 5-4 to secure third place in the division.

Their series will begin Monday at Edmonton’s Rogers Place on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+. The Oilers won two of three games against the Ducks during the regular season.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Kings will finish with the second-wild card spot and cross over to the Central Division for a first-round tilt with the Presidents’ Trophy-winning Colorado Avalanche.
