Shocking title change, top star returns and turns face – 5 bold predictions for AEW Dynamite (April 15)

Last Sunday, AEW held this year’s Dynasty pay-per-view, and with it, the Jacksonville-based promotion added yet another critically acclaimed PLE to its history, following the huge success of Revolution 2026 in March. This Wednesday’s Dynamite will be the Spring BreakThru edition, featuring the fallout from Dynasty. Tony Khan has also confirmed three title bouts for the flagship show.

The biggest match of the night will see MJF defend the AEW World Championship against Darby Allin. Meanwhile, the other two title bouts feature Willow Nightingale taking on Kamille for the TBS title and Kevin Knight battling Claudio Castagnoli for his newly won TNT title. With the show just one day away, let’s examine five bold predictions for Dynamite: Spring BreakThru in this article.

#5. Darby Allin dethrones MJF to become new AEW World Champion

MJF became the AEW World Champion at Worlds End 2025 in December and has done a tremendous job as champion so far. The Salt of the Earth has surprisingly been a fighting champion, successfully defending the title both inside and outside the Jacksonville-based promotion. His latest victim was Kenny Omega, whom the Wolf of Wrestling defeated in a stellar, nearly 40-minute main event at Dynasty. Meanwhile, Darby Allin secured the No. 1 contendership for the very title by defeating Andrade at the pay-per-view, and in his post-match interview, he declared that he will cash in his opportunity on the upcoming Dynamite.

The stage is set for two of AEW’s cornerstone stars to battle for the company’s top prize. The Daredevil has never won the world title, so he will be fired up to win his first. Meanwhile, Friedman did not want to face Allin and even tried to prevent the matchup by placing a bounty on Allin’s head last month. Moreover, Dynamite comes to us from Everett, Washington, the very city where Allin first trained to wrestle. The storyline suggests that Allin dethroning MJF at Dynamite is a strong possibility Tony Khan could be considering. The CEO could finally pull the trigger on making his relentless star the world champion for the first time ever.

#4. Ricochet Challenges Jack Perry to National Championship match

Ricochet has had a rollercoaster of a month in AEW. In March, on the Revolution 2026 pre-show, the Future of Flight lost his National title in a 21-man Blackjack Battle Royale to Jack Perry. Things then got worse for the star after he made fun of a fan who was trolling him, at the expense of the fan’s health condition. The situation became so dire that Rico had to publicly apologize after receiving d**th threats. That said, the One and Only did see some success at Dynasty last Sunday, picking up a stunning victory over the recently returned Chris Jericho.

On Dynamite: Spring BreakThru, Ricochet could confront Perry and ask for a rematch for the National Championship. Rico has always maintained that he was forced to defend the title in that 21-man blackjack battle royale, and he could come looking for a one-on-one on the flagship show. It is quite possible Tony Khan would honor this request, especially with Ricochet coming off a major win against Y2J, and maybe even make the impromptu match for the title on Dynamite.

#3. Mercedes Mone returns and turns face; confronts Thekla

The AEW women’s division is at the top of its game, but if there is one star whose presence it has dearly missed, it is Mercedes Mone. The CEO, who once held 13 championships simultaneously, was last seen on the New Year’s Smash edition of Dynamite on December 31, 2023, where her record-breaking TBS championship reign ended at the hands of Willow Nightingale. Following that loss, Mone announced a hiatus from the company but continued to appear on the indies as part of her European/world tour. During that tour, Mone lost the rest of her titles. Notably, the CEO showed respect and appreciation for the tour.

While many fans expected Mone to make her comeback at Dynasty, a return at Dynamite: Spring BreakThru cannot be ruled out. Moreover, the CEO could even turn face for the first time since July 2024 and confront AEW Women’s World Champion Thekla, announcing that she is coming for the title she has yet to win.

#2. Don Callis Family kicks out Konosuke Takeshita

The villainous Don Callis family may be the most dominant and exhaustive faction in AEW right now, but the stable has seen its share of fractures. The biggest ongoing one is between Konosuke Takeshita and the reigning International Champion, Kazuchika Okada. At Don Callis’s behest, the duo set their differences aside and tagged together at Dynasty to take on the Young Bucks. However, tensions came to a boil that night when the two started brawling. The Bucks picked up the win after the Alpha bailed on Okada late in the match.

This act of betrayal could force the Invisible Hand to call for one of his infamous family meetings on Dynamite tomorrow, during which he can decide to expel Takeshita from the group.

#1. Will Ospreay challenges Jon Moxley to a stipulated match

Will Ospreay’s return to AEW at Revolution 2026 was one of the biggest talking points of the pay-per-view. The Aerial Assassin immediately targeted Moxley and the Death Riders upon his return. In the following weeks, Ospreay battled multiple Death Riders members in one-on-one competition before finally getting his shot at the Purveyor of Violence and his Continental Title at Dynasty. However, Ospreay was unable to secure the win against Mox, who retained his gold after performing a spike piledriver on Ospreay’s surgically repaired neck on the steel steps.

Following the encounter, a visibly hurt Ospreay had to be helped to the back. However, the viciousness of the finish tells us that the Aerial Assassin is far from done with Mox. At Dynamite, the Englishmen could come looking for revenge, wanting another shot at the Continental champion, but he could raise the stakes by adding a stipulation to their match. Given how both men like to get down and dirty, the stipulation could range from a steel cage match to a street fight or even a Texas Deathmatch.
