Congratulations to WWE Star Tama Tonga
Tama Tonga is currently part of Solo Sikoa’s MFT, though cracks are starting to appear within the group. Nevertheless, congratulations are in order for the two-time WWE Tag Team Champion.
The 43-year-old WWE star began his pro wrestling career in 2008, training at The Dudley Boyz’s wrestling school. He mainly performed on the independent circuit before getting his big break at New Japan Pro Wrestling in 2010. He won 15 championships at NJPW and was part of the legendary stable Bullet Club.
Thanks for the submission!
But after 14 years in NJPW, Tama Tonga finally signed with WWE in 2024. He made his debut on the post-WrestleMania 40 episode of SmackDown, attacking Jey Uso and aligning himself with Solo Sikoa.
On Sunday, it was the second-year anniversary of Tama’s WWE debut. Congratulations to the WWE star for reaching a new milestone in his career.
Pro wrestling is in Tama Tonga’s blood. He is the nephew and adopted son of Haku, one of the toughest men in WWE history. Tonga Loa is his real-life blood cousin and adopted brother, while Talla Tonga is his young blood brother.
Tama Tonga fined by WWE last month
Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Podcast reported last month that Tama Tonga was heavily fined by WWE after posting a video from SmackDown rehearsals on social media. Zarian added that there’s an unwritten rule within the company about not recording or posting part of the rehearsals.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Tama addressed the rumors and confirmed that he was indeed fined by WWE. He didn’t reveal the monetary value of his punishment, but it’s a hard lesson for the highly valued member of The MFT.
“As addressed, yes I was fined – deserved. I knew better – a careless mistake. – Lesson learned. Take the hit and move on. Back to work,” Tama tweeted.
Despite the introduction of WWE Unreal last year, a docuseries about the inner workings of WWE production, it seems like the company still values privacy. It’s unclear if there’s significant heat on Tama due to the incident.
He already paid a fine, though The MFT lost the WWE Tag Team Championship to Damian Priest and R-Truth afterward. He’s still in a tension-filled storyline with Solo Sikoa, as well as fellow former NJPW star Shinsuke Nakamura.
