Two former WWE stars are set to compete in a major match. However, things are getting personal between them.

Nic Nemeth is one of the top performers in the world of professional wrestling. After spending several years in the WWE, he departed the promotion and signed with TNA Wrestling. Under the TNA banner, Nemeth as emerged as one of the company’s top stars. Recently, Nemeth suffered a setback as his upcoming match against MJF was canceled. However, he is set to face former WWE star AJ Francis at Rebellion 2026.

Now, AJ Francis has taken to social media to take a slight dig at Nic Nemeth. The former World Champion responded to Francis and it looks like things are getting personal between them.

Former WWE star Nic Nemeth issued a statement after his match against MJF got canceled

Nic Nemeth was set to face off against MJF at CAP in May 2026 in what many considered to be a dream match. However, it was reported that TNA Wrestling canceled the match since the promotion didn’t want the former WWE star to lose to Maxwell. Since this incident, the AEW World Champion has been vocal in taking shots at TNA and Carlos Silva.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Nic Nemeth issued a statement saying that he was looking forward to the match. However, things happened that were out of his control. He further promised to make this match happen one day.

“I was really looking forward to this. I was really, really excited. As of yesterday, as I was flying in, I found out, because of certain partnerships and brands, TNA President Carlos Silva had to make a difficult decision and protect a couple of brands down the line and things that are actually contractually obligated to happen… can’t just kind of do whatever we want. Even though I think some things were approved at a different time, when it became the situation that it is now with a couple of different things happening at once, I feel like… I’m crushed. I’m bummed out. I’m going to try and make this match happen one day, and hopefully soon. But at the moment, it is currently not happening.” [H/T: Drainmaker on X]
