The Niagara-bound QEW Skyway Bridge will be closed from Tuesday to Friday to facilitate rehabilitation work, Ontario’s Ministry of Transportation has announced.

An advisory from the ministry says there will be a full closure on the first night, followed by three nights of partial closure, as follows:

Tuesday: The ministry says the two left lanes will be closed at 9 p.m., and all four left lanes will be closed at 10 p.m. The closure will remain in place throughout the night, with all lanes reopened at 6 a.m. the following morning.

During the closure, the ministry says the ramp from Eastport Drive / collector lanes to the bridge will be closed. It says all ramps at the Northshore Boulevard Interchange will remain open, while Eastport Drive will remain fully open as an alternate route to re‑enter the QEW Niagara bound.

Wednesday: The two left lanes will be closed at 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. on Thursday.

Thursday: The two right lanes will be closed at 11 p.m. until 6 a.m. on Friday.

Friday: The two right lanes will be closed at 11 p.m. until 6 a.m. on Saturday.

The ministry says all lane closures are subject to change and are weather dependent.

Rehabilitation work on the QEW Burlington Bay Skyway officially began in May 2024. The bridge rehabilitation includes:

  • Removal and replacement of the concrete barrier walls on both sides of the Niagara bound bridge.
  • Concrete deck repair.
  • Bridge deck waterproofing.
  • Deck drainage upgrades.
  • New asphalt paving.

The ministry says other construction work includes widening the QEW approaching the bridge by one lane from north of Northshore Boulevard to the bridge and associated north to south on-ramp re-alignment, new overhead sign structures, a new Burlington Lift Bridge notification system with variable message signs, and illumination upgrades.
