“Finna have Podz in all nba teams” – Fans Explode After Anthony Edwards Falls Short of NBA’s 65-Game Awards Threshold

Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards has been ruled out of Thursday’s game against the Detroit Pistons due to knee injury management. With his latest absence, Edwards is now ineligible to win NBA awards, as he did not meet the 65-game rule.

Edwards had the potential to be named an All-NBA player for the work he put in this season. Unfortunately for the Wolves star, his injury has affected his availability. The former Georgia star has been limited to 59 games, and there are only six games left in the team’s schedule.

Initially, ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel reported that Edwards needs to play the remaining six games to be considered for the NBA awards. Upon checking, the league insider confirmed that the Wolves star only played three minutes against the Indiana Pacers early in the campaign. This gives him 64 eligible games if he’s available to play after the contest against the Pistons.

Players need to play at least 20 minutes to qualify for the awards.

After finding out about this, fans were disappointed that Anthony Edwards would not be part of any NBA awards. Here are some of what the fans said.

“finna have podz in all nba teams👌” a fan said.

“So lame. 64 games of Anthony Edwards is more impactful than 68 games of the person who will get awards of him,” another fan commented.

“That’s brutal 😭 one missed game and the whole award season gets nuked like that 💀 NBA rules don’t play at all 🤯” one fan said.

Other fans said the NBA should change the rule.

“I’ve seen enough, lower the minimum to 58,” someone commented.

“This rule is just corny as hell,” a comment read.

“Him and Cade still deserve to make at least 2nd or 3rd team all NBA,” one fan commented.

Anthony Edwards Could Lose a Fortune By Missing Out on All-NBA Honors

There’s a massive concern for Anthony Edwards when it comes to missing out on the NBA awards. Most of it has something to do with his potential earnings. Making any of the All-NBA teams will allow him to earn more from his five-year, $244.6 million contract extension.

According to Athlon Sports’ Mohammad Asif Ansari, the Wolves star could miss out on at least $41 million.

“If Edwards misses the cut, he loses that $41 million raise. This has a significant impact on the team. His salary is scheduled to jump to $42.3 million next season if he maintains his honors.”

However, he pointed out that it could help the Wolves down the line. Without having to pay Edwards’ bonus, the team can remain competitive and build a competent group around their star.
