Wizards’ George ruled out for season with elbow injury

Kyshawn George’s second season with the Washington Wizards is over. The franchise announced Thursday that he will miss the remainder of the season as he recovers from a torn UCL in his elbow that he suffered last month.
The Wizards expect George, 22, to return for next season’s opener.
The Miami product is one of Washington’s rising stars. He averaged 14.8 points per game in 48 starts this season, improving his scoring, shooting percentages and rebounding from his rookie campaign.
The Wizards have not confirmed whether 10-time All-Star Anthony Davis will join the team before the end of the season. The No. 1 pick in the 2012 draft has not suited up for them since the team traded for him in February.
Davis, 33, is still recovering from ligament damage in his left hand. The Wizards said earlier this week that the five-time All-NBA selection was cleared for light contact.
Washington (17-59) holds the worst record in the NBA with six regular-season games remaining.
