The fourth day of the Tiriac Open promises gripping battles on Wednesday, April 1, in Bucharest. Argentina’s Sebastian Baez, Spain’s Daniel Merida, Germany’s Daniel Altmaier, and other promising players are scheduled to play on the day.
The ATP 250 Tiriac Open has already witnessed some early upsets with former World No. 10 Roberto Bautista Agut bowing out in the first round against Titouan Droguet of France in a three-set thrilling battle.
Thanks for the submission!
Baez, who has showcased prolific form, will face the in-form Droguet in the Round of 16. Altmaier will also be in action, looking to earn a place in the quarterfinals. On that note, here is a look at the predictions for all the men’s singles fixtures on Day 4 in Bucharest.
#1 Stefanos Sakellaridis vs Fabian Marozsan
World No. 225, Stefanos Sakellaridis, will look to produce another upset in the tournament by besting 47th-ranked Fabian Marozsan. The Round of 16 fixture will be the first encounter between the duo as they look to stay in the hunt for the title. Stefanos has yet to drop a set in the ongoing edition of the Tiriac Open. He trounced Tseng Chun-hsin and Dimitar Kuzmanov in the qualifiers and topped it up by punching above his weight and sending World No. 120 Jan Choinski packing his bags.
On the other hand, Fabian featured at the Miami Open and suffered a defeat against Joao Fonseca in the Round of 128 despite putting up a valiant fight. Considering Fabian has fared well on clay, he is expected to have an upper hand against Stefanos.
Predicted winner: Fabian Marozsan
#2 Daniel Merida vs Adrian Mannarino

Daniel Merida, a 21-year-old youngster, will face a stern challenge against the seasoned Adrian Mannarino in Bucharest. The Spaniard was tested by Otto Virtanen after enjoying a near-flawless run in the qualifiers. The heated battle against Virtanen was a neck-to-neck affair, but Merida managed to triumph in the end.
Mannarino was last spotted in competitive action at the Miami Open. He locked horns with home favorite Tommy Paul in a fixture that lasted for three sets. Despite experience on his side in their first encounter, Merida could defeat Adrian, considering the latter’s struggle on clay.
Predicted winner: Daniel Merida
#3 Sebastian Baez vs Titouan Droguet

Sebastian Baez, the fifth seed in the tournament, will face a tricky challenge against Titouan Droguet, who handed a drubbing to Roberto in Bucharest. Baez, World No. 50, suffered a shocking loss against Adam Walton in the opening round in Miami. In Bucharest, he roared back to form with a thumping victory over Vilius Gaubas. However, Droguet will pose a different set of challenges.
The duo has never played against each other, as the fixtures appear to be a promising affair. Baez has dominated on clay and won multiple titles, while Droguet also boasts an impressive record and impressive performances.
Predicted winner: Sebastian Baez
#4 Daniel Altmaier vs Dino Prizmic

Sixth-seeded Daniel Altmaier, who suffered an early exit at the hands of Terence Atmane in Miami, found his rhythm in Napoli and extended it in Bucharest. He went all the way to the final of the Challenger Napoli but lost the title to Hamad Medjedovic. In Bucharest, he cruised to victory against Pedro Martínez before setting up the clash against Dino Prizmic.
On the other hand, the Croatian showed promise en route to the Round of 64 after playing in the qualifiers during the Indian Wells. During his encounter against Arthur Fils, Prizmic was forced to retire due to injury and had to take the exit route. On his return, he instantly struck the right chord and defeated Nikoloz Basilashvili. Altmaier holds a strong record on clay, while Prizmic is still in the developing phase, which puts him on the back foot.
Predicted winner: Daniel Altmaier
