One person was taken to hospital in unstable condition after a fire at an apartment building in Winnipeg’s West End on Tuesday night.
Firefighters responded to a three-storey apartment building near Sherbrook Street and Ellice Avenue at 6:52 p.m. on Tuesday, the city said in a news release.
At the scene, crews found flames and smoke coming from the building and launched an offensive attack, the city said.
One person was assessed by paramedics and taken to hospital in unstable condition, the release said. The rest of the people in the building were safely evacuated.
The fire was declared under control at 7:20 p.m., the city said.
It is now under investigation.
The city said early observations suggest the fire was contained to the unit it started in. No damage estimates are available yet.
