Corey LaJoie replaces Daniel Dye in #10 RAM as NASCAR driver resigns from Kaulig Racing despite getting reinstated
Corey LaJoie is set to take over full-time driving duties in the No. 10 RAM truck for Kaulig Racing after Daniel Dye stepped down from the seat, closing a turbulent month after getting suspended by NASCAR and his former team.
Dye’s exit followed his comments during a livestream about IndyCar driver David Malukas. NASCAR and Kaulig Racing both suspended him at the time, and NASCAR required sensitivity training before he could return. On Tuesday, NASCAR confirmed that Dye had completed that training and had been reinstated, giving him full eligibility to race again. Even so, Dye resigned from Kaulig, and the team brought in LaJoie.
Thanks for the submission!
A.J. Allmendinger filled in for Dye at Darlington last week. And Ty Dillon will step in at Rockingham this weekend in Kaulig’s Free Agent No. 25 truck at Rockingham next week.
“I love what Kaulig and Ram are doing to promote the Truck series” – Corey LaJoie reflects on new opportunity
Corey LaJoie drove the No. 25 truck this past week at Darlington and finished outside the top 20. The 34-year-old had pushed himself into the top 10 and looked set for a strong finish, but got caught in a multicar crash during overtime and dropped down the order, finishing in 21st.
Even with that setback, Kaulig Racing saw enough to expand LaJoie’s role. He spoke about the opportunity and the trust placed in him by the team and Ram.
“I really appreciate the confidence Kaulig Racing and Ram have in me. I have been a part of building a couple teams from the ground up and getting success and I will bring that experience to help Kaulig get to their potential on a quicker path. I love what Kaulig and Ram are doing to promote the Truck series and the sport. It will be a fun challenge to be a part of,” Corey LaJoie said (via Speedway Digest).
LaJoie had earlier said that he was not eager to return to the Truck Series full-time. In the 2025 season, he said he was “not entertaining” Truck Series offers for the following year. He explained that he did not enjoy racing in the series and felt frustrated with factors outside a driver’s control, including team limitations and technical restrictions.
Corey LaJoie also finished the last nine races of the 2025 season in Spire Motorsport’s No. 77 Chevy truck with a best result of a fifth-place run at Michigan and another at Richmond.
Meanwhile, the NASCAR Truck race at Rockingham Speedway is scheduled for 4:30 pm ET on Friday, April 3.
