Maple Leafs’ Nylander won’t divulge ‘thoughts’ on where season went wrong
But don’t expect the forward to divulge his take.
“I have my thoughts about maybe some stuff, but that’s something I’m going to keep to myself,” Nylander told reporters on Friday.
After entering the season with Stanley Cup aspirations, the Maple Leafs enter action Friday sitting third-last in the Eastern Conference, with 75 points in 73 games.
The disappointing results have landed general manager Brad Treliving and head coach Craig Berube on the hot seat and exposed players to plenty of criticism.
For the first time in the Auston Matthews-William Nylander era, the Maple Leafs were sellers at the trade deadline, dealing three players for five picks.
Nylander has enjoyed a strong season despite injury, racking up 25 goals and 42 assists in 56 contests.
He is signed through the 2031-32 season at $11.5 million per season.
After winning two straight, the Maple Leafs return to the ice Saturday when they visit the St. Louis Blues (Sportsnet, Sportsnet+, 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT).
