“It’s going to impact me big time”: JK Dobbins makes his feelings known about Broncos new OC Davis Webb after signing extension

JK Dobbins and the Denver Broncos offense in 2026 will have a new play-caller. The team announced in February that Davis Webb would be promoted to offensive coordinator.

It was later announced by head coach Sean Payton at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine that Webb would be calling the plays for the offense, a job Payton usually reserved for himself.

Dobbins spoke to “The Insiders” on NFL Network on Tuesday to offer his thoughts on the decision. Dobbins explained how the move will impact him specifically during the season.

“I think it’s going to impact me big time,” said Dobbins. “I think Webb is a fantastic play caller, and so is Sean Payton. So with the help of Sean Payton, with Davis Webb, I think it’s going to be even better than last year. I think we’re going to do some things that people won’t expect.”

Dobbins debuted with the Broncos last season, rushing 153 times for 772 yards and four touchdowns. Unfortunately, he suffered a Lisfranc injury on a hip-drop tackle against the Raiders in Week 10, which ended his season after foot surgery.

Denver doesn’t seem to have lost faith in Dobbins, however, as they signed him to a two-year, $16 million extension earlier this month.

Webb played quarterback for Texas Tech from 2013 to 2015 before joining California in 2016 for his senior season. He was a third-round draft selection in the 2017 NFL Draft by the New York Giants. Aside from the Giants, Webb had stints in the NFL with the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills.

He began his coaching career in 2023 with the Broncos, when he was hired by Sean Payton as the team’s quarterback coach. He was later promoted to the team’s offensive pass game coordinator after John Morton departed the organization, while simultaneously remaining the team’s quarterback coach.

Now, Webb will get his first nod in the NFL as an offensive coordinator, perhaps opening up the avenue for a head coaching position down the line should he manage to impress with the Broncos’ offense. It’s quite an extraordinary opportunity for Webb in his young coaching career at just 31 years old.

Being competitive in the AFC West will be no easy challenge, of course, as Denver shares the division with the defensively revamped Las Vegas Raiders, the always competitive Kansas City Chiefs, and the Los Angeles Chargers.
