On March 25, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police Highway Safety Division responded to what they described as a single-vehicle collision that left a tractor trailer on its side and closed a highway ramp in Hamilton. ( OPP Highway Safety Division/X)

The ramp from westbound Highway 403 to southbound Highway 6 is closed after a tractor trailer crashed and rolled onto its side, police say.

Around 8 a.m., Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division posted a series of photos on X, saying the driver was being assessed for minor injuries.

The truck was transporting “bales of recycled material” and was the only vehicle involved in the collision, police said. They added cleanup would involve retrieving some of the bales that flew from the trailer and rolled down the road.

Around 12 p.m., police said the road will likely re-open by 4 or 5 p.m. They said officers charged the driver — a 32-year-old Brampton, Ont., man — with careless driving.
