The proposal reportedly touches on sanctions relief, nuclear cooperation, rollback of Iran’s nuclear program, missile limits, International Atomic Energy Agency monitoring and shipping access through the Strait of Hormuz. The U.S. appears to want an end to the war while also deploying about 1,000 more troops to the Middle East.

The plan was submitted to Iran by Pakistani government intermediaries, which offered to host negotiations between Iran and the U.S.
The office of Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi claimed he has been discussing the war this week with several counterparts. However, Iranian Parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf denied Trump’s claim of direct talks and an Iranian military spokesperson declared that the fighting would go on.

Trump has claimed Iran shared an oil- and gas-related “present,” a day after telling reporters that Iran is eager for a deal to end the war.
Here is what’s going on Friday in the Iran war:
Israel issues missile alerts
On Wednesday, Israel issued a flurry of alerts as Iran targeted large parts of the country with multiple ballistic missiles.
Police and rescue services said they were treating several sites impacted by debris from either missiles or interceptors. There were no immediate reports of injuries.
Drone and rocket fire from Lebanon also continued unabated toward communities in northern Israel.
Hezbollah fired missiles at Israeli warplane
Hezbollah has claimed its air defence units fired surface-to-air missiles toward an Israeli warplane that was conducting strikes over southern Lebanon on Tuesday evening.

Hezbollah said the plane was forced to withdraw, stating it was the first time the group fired surface-to-air missiles against an Israeli warplane since the latest Israel-Hezbollah war broke out on March 2.
Last week, the organization claimed it shot down an Israeli drone over the southern village of Baraachit.
There was no immediate comment from the Israeli military.
Iran receives 15-point U.S. ceasefire proposal
Iran received a 15-point proposal from the U.S. to reach a ceasefire in the war, according to two Pakistani officials.
The Pakistani officials said the proposal broadly touched issues such as sanctions relief, civilian nuclear cooperation, a rollback of Iran’s nuclear program, monitoring by the International Atomic Energy Agency, missile limits and access for shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran has insisted it isn’t engaged in negotiations with the U.S. and a military spokesman mocked America over its diplomatic efforts.
The proposal comes as the U.S. military is preparing to send at least 1,000 more troops to supplement some 50,000 troops already in the Middle East.
The Pentagon is also planning to deploy about 5,000 Marines and thousands of sailors to the region.
