“I haven’t been getting the call to wrestle” – Ex-WWE star reveals he’s now a producer in AEW

A major former WWE name has just revealed their backstage roles within AEW. After being inactive as an in-ring competitor for the company, they mentioned how they were a producer among many things.

Colt Cabana is known for his work with many promotions throughout his almost three-decade-long career. He was previously signed with WWE, working there for a few years, but he has also been known for his time in ROH, NJPW, and, currently, AEW.

During his appearance on Talk’n Shop, Cabana was asked whether he indeed had multiple roles within the Tony Khan-led company. He confirmed this was the case as he was a producer, part of the merchandise team, the VIP team, and also still a wrestler. He mentioned not getting the call to compete in the ring, but he wanted to make himself as irreplaceable as he had no plans of leaving anytime soon.

When was Colt Cabana’s last on-screen appearance in AEW?

The former Dark Order member has not been active on-screen for the promotion. He has competed in a series of dark matches over the years, but his last televised bout was back in 2022, when he challenged Chris Jericho for the ROH World Championship.

He made a brief cameo last year, as he was a victim of an attack by Jon Moxley and the Death Riders. This came after Mox dropped the belt to ‘Hangman’ Adam Page. He attacked Colt Cabana, who was a guest commentator that night, and choked him out with a steel chain as a message to Hangman.

Cabana continues to have a big backstage role in AEW, but it remains to be seen if he’ll be given an on-screen role sometime soon. He has still been wrestling on the independent circuit so it seems he may still have some gas left in the tank.
