Gusty winds and blowing snow
The storm began on Sunday evening and was expected to continue throughout the day on Monday, bringing 10 to 20 centimetres of snow to some areas.
CBC meteorologist Ryan Snoddon said northeasterly winds would gust 50 to 70 km/h for most areas, leading to some blowing and drifting snow, especially in open and exposed areas.
Snoddon said Antigonish, Guysborough and Cape Breton was looking set to see stronger gusts in the 70 to 80 km/h range Monday night and into Tuesday as the system pulls away.
The snow was set to taper to flurries from west to east throughout the evening on Monday and overnight, said Snoddon. Lingering onshore flurries were looking set to persist for the Northumberland Shore and Cape Breton right through the night and into Tuesday morning.
