Waterloo regional police have arrested and charged a 38-year-old Cambridge woman following an early morning house fire in the city over the weekend.

Emergency crews responded to reports of a house fire in the area of Adam Street and Queen Street at approximately 2 a.m. on Saturday.

Police said one person was transported to a local hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.

The fire was extinguished by the Cambridge Fire Department, but the house sustained significant damage as a result of the fire, police said.

The Cambridge woman charged with arson – disregard for human life, and was held for a bail hearing.
