Michael Carrick plays down new Man United concern after Bournemouth draw
Man Utd drew 2-2 with Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium to extend a run of just two wins in eight away games.
Michael Carrick insists he isn’t concerned by Manchester United’s away form despite a draw at Bournemouth extending their run to just two wins in eight games on the road.
United have won at Arsenal and Everton under Carrick, but those are the only successes away from Old Trafford since early December, and as well as defeat at Newcastle there have been recent draws at Burnley, West Ham and now Bournemouth.
The picture under Carrick has generally been trending upwards and that defeat at St James’ Park is the only one he has suffered in 10 games in charge, so he was reluctant to make too much of the drop in form away from home.

“This league’s tough to win games,” he said. “We’ve won a lot of games recently, so I think the amount of points we’ve accumulated in some of the performances and the results that we’ve had I think is a big positive.
“Home and away, it’s a tough league. It happens, you see, how games can unfold quite quickly, but I thought we managed it in the end pretty well.”
United lead twice at the Vitality Stadium, with Bruno Fernandes opening the scoring from the penalty spot and then registering a 17th assist of the season when his corner was headed into his own net by James Hill.
But Bournemouth twice hit back, although in controversial circumstances. Ryan Christie scored just seconds after Amad was denied what Carrick felt was a clear penalty at the other end, and then Harry Maguire was sent off for fouling Evanilson in the box, with Junior Kroupi scoring from the spot.
