“When I joined I thought I would be one of the biggest stars” – Major star confesses he’s frustrated in AEW due to lack of opportunities

A major star has just expressed their frustrations about not being given enough opportunities in AEW. They claimed that they initially thought things would be different and that they would be at the top of the roster.

Anthony Ogogo made his debut for AEW in 2021, attacking Cody Rhodes and setting up a blockbuster feud with him. Following this, he did not make any appearance for the promotion until 2024, when he was revealed as the newest member of Shane Taylor Promotions.

During a recent interview with ITRWrestling’s Riju Dasgupta, Ogogo spoke about his AEW absence and how this has been longer than he hoped. He originally believed that he would have been at the top of the company by this point, but he understood that this was not up to him.

I guess I am biding my time for an opportunity. The AEW roster is stacked, it’s a stacked roster. We sign new talent all the time. Sometimes you got to sit out and wait and that’s what I have been doing. Perhaps longer than I would have liked. When I joined I thought I would be one of the biggest stars in the company by now. But, listen, in the industry of pro wrestling you are at the behest of others. You can be the best but it’s not always down to you. It’s not my company. I can do what I am doing.

He continued by revealing that he’s been constantly training with several top wrestling minds, and that he has been getting as much experience as he can in the indies. He expressed his frustration with his lack of opportunities, and he wants to be given a chance to show what he can do.

“I can train like I am training week in week out with Billy Gunn, QT Marshall, some of the best wrestling minds. I am wrestling lots on the independents and QT Marshall has his own show 1FW. I am getting the most experience possible so when I get the nod I can take it with both hands. It’s been a long, frustrating last couple of years buddy because I relocated my who life from the UK to do this, I have trained and in great physical shape as you can see, so I am ready to show the world what I can do again.” [H/T ITRWrestling]

Anthony Ogogo’s stablemates were featured at AEW Revolution last weekend

During AEW Revolution Zero Hour, Shane Taylor Promotions was around as The Infantry were in tag team action against Big Boom AJ and QT Marshall, also known as Boom & Doom.

During a point in the match, Shane Taylor, who was accompanying his stablemates, got into it with popular Hollywood actor Wayne Brody, who was at ringside. He also had interactions with The Rizzler and Big Justice.

In the end, amidst the chaos, Big Boom AJ and QT Marshall would connect with their Boom-sday Device finisher for the win. Both Lee Moriarty and Anthony Ogogo have been inactive for the faction, so it is unclear what the future holds for them.
