Pierrefonds altercation sends man, woman to hospital

An overnight altercation in a residence in the Pierrefonds-Roxboro borough has sent a man and woman to hospital with serious injuries.
Montreal police spokesperson Raphaël Bergeron said an argument turned physical at about 3 a.m. in a residence on Athéna St. in the Pierrefonds district.
The woman, 41, was taken to hospital with serious injuries that did not endanger her life and were allegedly inflicted by the 51-year-old man involved in the altercation.
The male suspect, however, was taken to hospital and was undergoing surgery to deal with serious and apparently self-inflicted injuries sustained during the dispute, police said.
Investigators were at the scene early Thursday in an effort to determine the circumstances leading to the assault.
