Mike McEwen to join Kleiter’s Saskatchewan rink as skip

Mike McEwen is staying in Saskatchewan.

The veteran skip is joining Rylan Kleiter’s rink for the 2026-27 season, the team announced Wednesday.

McEwen, a native of Brandon, Man., announced last week his teammates for the past three seasons had left him. McEwen, Colton Flasch, Kevin Marsh and Dan Marsh finished 5-3 and missed the playoffs at this year’s Montana Brier due to a tiebreaker.

Tyler Tardi has since been announced as the new skip for that rink.

Kleiter’s team, meanwhile, announced Tuesday that second Matthew Hall was leaving the team.

The Kleiter-skipped rink qualified for the Brier in 2025, missing the playoffs.

McEwen will skip the new rink, with Kleiter at third, Joshua Mattern at second and Trevor Johnson at lead.

McEwen’s old rink finished second at the 2024 Brier and third at the 2025 Olympic Trials.

“I’m not leaving…” McEwen said in a statement. “I’m excited for both the team and myself to stay in Saskatchewan”
