“Don’t try to ride my husband’s wave” – Charles Oliveira’s wife, Vitoria Brum, blasts Mauricio Ruffy’s criticism of BMF title fight
Charles Oliveira’s wife, Vitoria Brum, decided to take matters into her own hands as she came to defend her husband’s last UFC outing.
Oliveira won the BMF title by defeating Max Holloway at UFC 326. However, the manner of victory didn’t feel too BMF-esque as he grappled the American for most of the five rounds.
That didn’t sit well with another Brazilian, Mauricio Ruffy. The UFC star didn’t believe this was the right way to go about it:
“To stand and trade and all that. He did what nobody imagined, which was to clinch from start to finish. … If you go in there just to clinch and hold someone, within the UFC business, you end up losing opportunities. Charles had an incredible fight, but surely even the UFC wouldn’t want to see him holding [Conor McGregor] for three rounds, and Conor wouldn’t put himself in that position either.”

However, Brum came to the defense of her husband and ripped into Ruffy:
“Then let’s schedule a boxing match because if you want a fight, in the damn MMA so there’s going to be jiu-jitsu.”
Brum responded on social media and added more to her Instagram reply (H/t MMA Fighting):
“Ruffy, don’t try to ride my husband’s wave because the amount of submissions he has, you don’t have that many fights.”

Mauricio Ruffy claims comments were misunderstood
The Fighting Nerds star later spoke with Ag.Fight and offered to clarify the earlier comments made towards Charles Oliveira.
Mauricio Ruffy claimed that he didn’t express himself the right way and took back a comment where he said that Oliveira was wobbled late on in the fight by Max Holloway.
He also went on to say that he was a huge Oliveira fan and didn’t want to face the Brazilian:
“Unless it’s something that absolutely has to happen, but I’d dodge it [Fighting Oliveira] in every possible way because I don’t want that fight. I really like Charles. I was even watching videos of him at the farm with the horses. So if at any point I gave that impression, that really wasn’t what I meant.”
