Police are asking for help to find a missing 83-year-old man who did not show up for an appointment in Selkirk on Tuesday afternoon and has not been heard from since.
Laurie Holgate, 83, left his home on Pine Avenue in Tyndall, Man., about 40 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg, for a 4:30 p.m. appointment in Selkirk, Oakbank RCMP said in a Silver Alert notice issued on Tuesday night.
Police said he did not show up for the appointment and has not returned home. No one has heard from him, RCMP said.
He was reported missing around 7 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the notice.
Holgate may be disoriented and his family is worried about his well-being, police said.
Holgate is described as five feet 10 inches tall, with a clean-shaven face and short grey hair, according to the Silver Alert notice. Police say he may be wearing a brown leather veterans jacket with the words “strong and free,” blue jeans and a baseball cap.
He is driving a red 2020 Chevrolet Spark with Manitoba licence plate VAA 185, the notice said.
Anyone who may have seen him or has information about his whereabouts is encouraged to 911 or Oakbank RCMP at 204-444-3847. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or www.manitobacrimestoppers.com.
