Ricochet issues apology for controversial tweet after calls for AEW to fire him

AEW star Ricochet was involved in a major controversy recently. As a result, fans mocked him for losing the AEW National Championship to Jack Perry at Revolution last Sunday. The company posted a clip of him destroying objects backstage after he failed to defend his title. A fan named Sandi, who is diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS), an autoimmune disease, claimed that the star’s acting hadn’t improved over the years.

The former National Champion decided to cross the line when he claimed that he was glad the fan had MS. Fans all over social media have been criticising him for his distasteful comment. Many even clamored for AEW and Tony Khan to suspend him. The star has now issued an apology for his comment.

After over a day, Ricochet took to X/Twitter and said that he had inadvertently taken out his anger toward the internet wrestling community on Sandi. He also claimed that the fan in question didn’t deserve to be made fun of for her disease. The Highlight of the Night even stated that he will act more responsibly in the future.

“I took out my hatred for the IWC on Sandi, and inadvertently others who are effected [sic] by MS. She didnt deserve it and for that, I sincerely apologize. Moving forward I’ll do better,” he wrote.

Ricochet tried to justify his statement recently

The former National Champion was heavily trolled by fans after his shocking comment about the MS patient.

A few hours after making the unsavoury comment, Ricochet couldn’t handle the hatred and pointed out that several fans have always been rude towards him and his wife (former WWE ring announcer Samantha Irvin), even wishing death on them.

“Its soooo hilarious that the amount of little b*****s who has tweeted and wished harm on me, who has wished even death, said some of the most VILE things to me AND my wife. People who try and make fun of me EVERYDAY. But those same little b*****s can’t take it when I do it back to people. Fucking p*****s, everywhere,” Ricochet wrote.

It will be interesting to see what is next for the AEW star after this recent incident, and also after losing the National Championship.
