A teenage girl was in critical condition on Sunday after the SUV in which she was a passenger was involved in a single-vehicle crash on Montreal’s South Shore.

The collision happened on Highway 20 at about 11 a.m. when the driver, an adult woman, lost control of the vehicle, left the road and struck a lamppost before crashing into a median near St-Mathieu-de-Bel

Sûreté du Québec spokesperson Marythé Bolduc said all three occupants of the vehicle — the driver and two teenage girls — were taken to a hospital. One teen suffered injuries initially thought to be life-threatening, but her condition stabilized. By late Sunday afternoon, Bolduc said authorities no longer feared for her life. The other two people suffered minor injuries.
