A Request from Kol is Gaul’s second Side Story in Monster Hunter Stories 3. It takes place in Canalta Timberland. The rewards from completing the mission include a new weapon for Gaul and the Key to Combos.

A Request From Kol Gaul Side Story walkthrough in Monster Hunter Stories 3

You can start this mission after you have completed the first main story mission of Sheparden. You will be tasked with finding a lost villager who left to hunt a few days ago. The first task will be to find a group of Felyne search party that had gone out to look for the villager.

Find the lost villager: Go to Mt. Canalta

Fast travel to Cataracts Lookout Point and head north. The group of Felyne will point towards the highest point of the map. They also mention that the villager has gone to “slay that Yian Garuga in the skies above the Canalta Timberland“. If you have already completed the Eleanor Side Story 2, you would know where the Yian Garuga habitat is: on top of Mt. Canalta.

Getting up there can be a little tricky, as you can not go straight ahead. Instead, follow the stream west. Climb the cliff on your left and keep going North. You will find fallen logs acting as bridges. Follow them up.

The path is relatively straightforward. As you climb upwards, you will notice an upward shaft of wind. Use that to glide to the top of the mountain.

Find the lost villager: Explore the Frozen Grotto

On top of the mountain, you will find a clue that the lost villager has fallen into the hole below. Simply drop down below (do not use glide on your monstie). Once inside the Frozen Grotto, head south and take the left at the first crossing.

You will find the lost villager in front of a Tetranadon. Defeat the monster to complete A Request From Kol Gaul Side Story in MHS3.
