4 WWE Superstars Drew McIntyre should face instead of Jacob Fatu at WrestleMania 42

Last Friday on SmackDown, Drew McIntyre lost the Undisputed WWE Championship to Cody Rhodes. He had won the gold earlier this year from Rhodes, thanks to interference from a returning Jacob Fatu. Now that McIntyre is no longer a champion, he might aim to conclude his rivalry with Fatu at WrestleMania 42.

Let’s take a look at four WWE Superstars whom The Scottish Warrior should face instead of The Samoan Werewolf at WrestleMania 42.

#4. Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar has a storied history with Drew McIntyre. Although their first showdown at WrestleMania 36 took place without a live audience, it was memorable. Hence, it makes sense for the company to consider booking the duo to run it back in front of the Las Vegas crowd.

Since The Scottish Warrior is no longer the champion, a feud with The Best Incarnate would feel more personal and intense. McIntyre has gained a lot of momentum due to his remarkable character work lately. A bout against Lesnar could generate more excitement and anticipation among fans than a match against Jacob Fatu.

#3. Oba Femi

Oba Femi has been slaying superstars since his arrival on the main roster. He was very dominant during his time in WWE NXT. This led him to relinquish the NXT Championship before he moved to the main roster. While he is currently a free agent, Femi has continued to maintain his winning streak.

Given his recent success, The Ruler appears to be a better choice to face Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 42 than Jacob Fatu. Moreover, the Nigerian star has a history with The Scottish Warrior that dates back to Saturday Night’s Main Event in November 2025.

#2. Sheamus

Sheamus is seemingly the most logical name on the list. The Celtic Warrior has a long history with Drew McIntyre in the Stamford-based promotion. Their chemistry as allies and enemies has been exciting for fans. Therefore, The Celtic Warrior would be a good opponent for McIntyre at WrestleMania 42. Unfortunately, the veteran is currently injured, and his return is not yet confirmed.

#1. Drew McIntyre could face Trick Williams

Trick Williams has gradually gained momentum since his arrival on Friday Night SmackDown. Although he has not yet shared the ring with Drew McIntyre, the two have had high-profile confrontations on the show.

It looks like fans are eager to see The Scottish Warrior face off with the former NXT star. They seemed excited during the duo’s confrontation on the blue show. Therefore, Williams is also a good choice to face McIntyre at WrestleMania 42.
