The Usos take a huge shot at one of the only stars Roman Reigns couldn’t beat during his legendary title run
The Usos got into a bit of a beef with perhaps one of their greatest rivals of all time, who also happens to be one of the only superstars that Roman Reigns couldn’t beat during his legendary Universal Championship run from 2020 to 2024.
That superstar is none other than WWE veteran and future Hall of Famer, Xavier Woods. It might come as a surprise to you, but Woods technically never lost to Roman Reigns. In fact, if it wasn’t for a technicality that is incorrect in hindsight, Woods should actually have won over The OTC. For some context, in their brief feud in November 2021, Xavier Woods was the King of the Ring, and he went up against the Tribal Chief on SmackDown. While he looked like he was on the verge of a huge victory, The Usos would take him out and attack him. That should have been a DQ, but in the record books, it is registered as a “No Contest”.
Thanks for the submission!
Either way, Xavier Woods responded to a post about how Roman Reigns has defeated everyone, stating that he wasn’t defeated. The Usos replied by saying “Cuz yo a** don’t come to work”, and they were quickly hit with backlash in the comments for the irony due to Reigns’ part-time schedule, while Woods is only out of action due to a legitimate injury.
Roman Reigns had a temporary new nickname after taking Xavier Woods’ crown/\.
After the match, in which Woods was taken out and beaten up, Reigns demanded that The Usos take his well-earned crown and place it on his head. As a result, Woods’ run as the King of the Ring had officially come to an end, and since then, it’s very rare to see the crown and “King” or “Queen” being a part of the entire gimmick.
In doing so, the Tribal Chief became “King Reigns” for that one night, “earning” a temporary new nickname. Instead, nowadays, the King and Queen of the Ring get a one-night cloak and celebration, with the real reward being a World Championship match.
Last year, it was Cody Rhodes and Jade Cargill who won the respective tournaments, with Cody regaining his Undisputed WWE Title while Jade Cargill fell short to Tiffany Stratton, taking another three months to finally dethrone her.
