Kansas State coaching search: Three top coaches Wildcats are eyeing after parting ways with Jerome Tang ft. Jerrod Calhoun
The Kansas State Wildcats fired Jerome Tang in February. It was reported that Tang’s firing was primarily for “cause” following a viral, scathing post-game press conference in which he criticized his players.
While the Wildcats hired Matthew Driscoll as their interim head coach after dismissing Tang, the program is still searching for a permanent candidate.
Last week, analyst Jeff Goodman told “The Field of 68,” that Kansas State has narrowed down to three options to decide their next coach: Josh Schertz, Jerrod Calhoun and Casey Alexander.
Schertz is currently coaching at Saint Louis University. He led the team to the Atlantic 10 regular-season title this year.
Calhoun, on the other hand, is in his second year at Utah State. He led the Aggies to the Mountain West regular-season title this season.
Meanwhile, Alexander is in his seventh year as Belmont coach. He led the program to the MVC regular-season title this year.
A look at Jerome Tang’s record at Kansas State

Jerome Tang compiled a 71-57 record in just under four years as Kansas State’s coach. He had a 29-39 record in Big 12 Conference play.
Tang led the Wildcats to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament in his first year. However, Kansas State failed to qualify for March Madness in the past two seasons.
This season, the Wildcats own the No. 15 seed in the Big 12 Tournament. They face No. 10 seed BYU on Tuesday.
