Key Storylines for 2026

Home Ice Advantage: For the first time in program history, Penn State is a top-3 seed and will host the Frozen Four on their home ice. This creates a massive advantage for the Nittany Lions if they can clear their regional final.

WCHA Dominance: Once again, the WCHA took three of the top four seeds. The road to the title almost certainly goes through a battle between Ohio State, Wisconsin, or Minnesota.

The First-Timer: Franklin Pierce (NEWHA) is making its first-ever NCAA tournament appearance. They face a tall task against ECAC champion Quinnipiac for the right to play the defending champs, Wisconsin.
