Luck of Shelter Pets at Overcrowded Shelters is About to Change with One-Way Tickets to Freedom | The Animal Rescue Site
Animal shelters in Louisiana and Alabama are overflowing with good boys and girls who have not had luck finding a forever home.
With your support, we are going to change their luck with a one-way ticket to freedom on this month’s Flight to Freedom. Dozens of shelter animals will board the flight on March 17 and get a second chance in New Jersey.
Their idea of a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow is a family to love and be loved by in return. Meet just a couple of the lucky passengers on the flight below.

Serenity

Just like her name, Serenity is a sweet soul who just wants someone to love. The two-year-old Australian Shepherd mix is calm, easygoing and enjoys the simple things in life – spending time with people, going for walks, and settling in for a good cuddle.
She is eager to find her person in New Jersey. Her current shelter shared, “Serenity is especially affectionate and loves being close to her people. Whether it’s a quiet moment on the couch or a relaxed stroll outside, she’s happiest when she can share the moment with someone by her side.”
Molly

This young beagle is ready for a fresh start. She was surrendered due to no fault of her own. She loves people and being around them. According to her caretakers, “Molly greets visitors with a calm, welcoming approach and has been doing very well with kennel training. She is social with other dogs and adjusts easily to new routines and environments.”
Molly has tested asymptomatic heartworm positive and will receive treatment in New Jersey before being adopted. She has a long life ahead of her and just needs someone to share it with.
LB

The senior rat terrier mix arrived at the overcrowded shelter after his owner passed away. The thirteen-year-old remains happy and affectionate despite all the loss he has endured.
He underwent a full health exam, dental procedure, and the removal of a benign mass from his right abdomen. His current shelter said he doesn’t act his age and still has so much love to give.
“Though he is 13 years old, LB doesn’t act his age. He still has a bright, engaged personality and enjoys the comfort of companionship. He would do best in a quiet home, ideally with someone who appreciates the calm presence of a devoted older dog.”

Marble

Charming, intelligent, and handsome are all ways to describe Marble. The three-year-old Aussie Mix has balanced energy which means he loves to play but also cuddle. He is a mellow fella who just wants a family of his own.
Marble is described by his caretakers as, “The kind of companion who listens, watches, and chooses peace every single time.”
Wickles

This sweet Labrador Mix has had a rough start to life, but he refuses to let that get him down. He has already been neglected and abandoned by two families due to no fault of his own and is ready to settle down.
His first home he was kept on a chain outside and arrived malnourished with ribs showing. At his second home he roamed on his own in search of love elsewhere until he was rescued and brought back to the shelter. He has watched other dogs find love and wonders when it will be his turn.

His luck is about to change.
He as tested positive for heartworm disease after returning the second time to the shelter and has already started treatment. He will finish his care in New Jersey before being adopted.
His caretakers told us, “Again, through everything – neglect, hunger, waiting, losing a home twice. He never lost his hope or sweetness. He still greeted you with bright eyes and a happy grin. Still sits politely. Still wants affection. Still believes. He is the best boy and deserves his forever home!”
