Anthony Kim reveals mind-boggling promise made by Dustin Johnson to his 4Aces GC teammates
Anthony Kim revealed that Dustin Johnson jokingly promised to buy the 4Aces GC team a private plane after their latest team win.
The moment came after Kim helped the team secure the victory, his first time being in that situation with the group.
Thanks for the submission!
“Yeah, it was my first time, obviously, in that situation where we had a chance to win,” Kim said.
“I think it was the second-to-last hole when DJ and I were playing together. I thought that we were up one, and I had a 10-footer, and it actually meant a little bit more than just moving up the leaderboard a little bit.
“To win with these guys is pretty special, and I look forward to doing it a lot more. DJ said he was going to get us a private plane soon.
Anthony Kim said joining 4Aces GC made sense when he returned to LIV Golf, as he had already known Dustin Johnson and several of the players on the team.
“I’ve known DJ for a long time, developed a great relationship with Thomas Pieters and got to play with Tom Detry in Riyadh. I knew it was a good fit. I couldn’t be more excited to be on the 4Aces, and for us to pop off a win is nice.”
Kim also admitted that his early time after returning to professional golf was not easy.
“I was straight trash the first year and a half I played,” he said. “But yeah, I felt my game was getting better.”
The recent results have made the comeback feel more real for him.
“After Adelaide, the first couple days seemed pretty surreal,” Kim said. “Obviously we all play to win, right? But now with LIV Golf, there’s two elements. You get to win with three other guys that you’re battling with. This is pretty special.”
In his first three LIV Golf starts since returning through the Promotions Event, Kim has already picked up both an individual win and a team title.
That individual win came at LIV Golf Adelaide on February 15, 2026. Playing for 4Aces GC, Kim finished 16 under par and closed with a 9-under 63 to edge Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau.
The win ended a long wait for Anthony Kim, who had not lifted a trophy in nearly 16 years after spending more than a decade away from the sport due to injuries and personal struggles.
Next up, Anthony Kim and 4Aces GC will head to LIV Golf Singapore, which is the second event in a three-week run on the LIV schedule.
Anthony Kim reacts to fan support after LIV Golf comeback
Anthony Kim has also opened up about the reaction he received after his comeback victory at LIV Golf Adelaide, saying the support from fans has been surprising.
Speaking ahead of LIV Golf Hong Kong Kim said the response following his comeback victory caught him off guard. He explained that throughout his career he was usually motivated by criticism which made the positive reaction feel unusual.
“It’s been amazing, the love and support I’ve gotten. I’m motivated by negativity, so it’s been very weird,” Kim said.
He added that many of the messages came from people who connected with his personal journey.
“But I feel like a lot of people saw their own families, their own struggles in me, and I think that’s why it got the reception that it did.”
According to Anthony Kim some of the most meaningful messages came from people dealing with addiction who said his comeback pushed them to address their own problems.
“I’ve had a lot of people tell me that I’ve been screwing up, but after watching that, I’m going to deal with my problems… Some unfortunate circumstances happen, but bad decisions are a large part of the reason people are in bad spots, and I think everyone can relate to that.”
He added that seeing those responses played a role in his decision to return to professional golf.
“Just seeing that other people are changing to better their life, better their family’s life is one of the reasons that I wanted to come back to golf.”
Kim then competed at LIV Golf Hong Kong where he finished T31 at 9 under par. He opened with a 67, followed by a 72 before closing the weekend with back-to-back 66s.
