Colorado weather: More mountain snow as winter storm continues

A winter storm will continue to bring heavy snow and high winds to Colorado’s northern and central mountains on Saturday, creating dangerous driving conditions throughout the state, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters issued a winter storm warning for most of the northern and central mountains until 11 p.m., with an additional 5-15 inches or more snow expected throughout the Rockies and wind gusts up to 60 mph.

“Snow and blowing snow will reduce visibility to a quarter mile or less. Near blizzard conditions are possible, especially Saturday morning,” forecasters said in an alert. “Travel will be very difficult to impossible, with road closures possible,”

All three of Colorado’s National Weather Service offices — in Boulder, Pueblo and Grand Junction — have put out winter storm warnings through Saturday night, stretching from the Wyoming state to the north and falling just short of Gunnison to the south.
