“Behaving like a scorned ex” – Carlos Alcaraz fans fuming after Juan Carlos Ferrero re-opens break-up saga just before Indian Wells
Carlos Alcaraz’s fans have been left fuming after the World No.1’s former coach Juan Carlos Ferrero recently re-opened their break-up saga. As the Spaniard gears up for Indian Wells, Ferrero’s comments led to fans labelling him a ‘scorned ex’.
Alcaraz and Ferrero worked together for over seven years, with the latter leading the 22-year-old to six Grand Slam titles and several other major accolades. The duo called time on their partnership after the conclusion of the 2025 season, a move that left many surprised. Since then, Ferrero has given several interviews about their split. Most recently, he spoke about unfollowing Alcaraz on social media, telling El Cafelito,
Thanks for the submission!
“I don’t follow him because I need a little bit of time to create some distance. But at the same time if I open Instagram he shows up everywhere. In the end I didn’t achieve anything. If you follow tennis accounts and tournaments he appears there anyway.”
Reacting to Juan Carlos Ferrero’s comments, one fan on X wrote,
“OMGGG. Why is he behaving like a scorned ex instead of a former coach? I feel so bad for Carlos. But at the same time, I can’t help but just laugh at JCF’s antics.”
Another fan slammed Ferrero as ‘pathetic’, writing,
“Jcf is such a pathetic man. I know he’s fuming about the fact that Carlos is doing so well without him.”
Here is how other tennis enthusiasts reacted to Juan Carlos Ferrero reopening his break-up saga with Carlos Alcaraz prior to the Indian Wells Open:
“JCF saying he’s ready to tell his story when that’s all he’s been doing for the past 3-4 months… GO AWAY. We don’t want to hear it!!!!” one fan wrote.
“Oh ffs at this point i cannot believe he’s the older man in this situation,” another added.
“Atp I feel sorry for Carlos, the Alcaraz family, his wife, his kids, that golfer he is coaching and most of all, us, because he has made this everyone’s problem instead of going to therapy like an adult would,” one X user commented.
“He’s acting like a teenager going through his first breakup,” yet another fan chimed in.
Carlos Alcaraz’s path to the finals at Indian Wells

Carlos Alcaraz enters Indian Wells as a frontrunner for a title finish. The Spaniard has gone unbeaten in his 2026 season so far and he will be keen to continue that momentum as he hunts for his third title in the California desert.
Alcaraz will begin his campaign at the BNP Paribas Open against either Grigor Dimitrov or Terence Atmane, with a potential clash against Arthur Rinderknech looming in the round of 32. The World No.1 can expect to run into Norway’s Casper Ruud in his pre-quarterfinals, while he could face Alexander Bublik, Cameron Norrie or Alex de Minaur in the final eight.
Carlos Alcaraz’s semifinals at Indian Wells includes potential clashes against Novak Djokovic, Jack Draper. Danill Medvedev and Taylor Fritz. The Spaniard can expect to run into long-time rival Jannik Sinner in the finals.
