York Regional Police have charged an occupational therapy assistant in connection with the alleged assault of a special needs child in Vaughan.

On Feb. 24, investigators were contacted by the complainant, who alleged their special needs child had been assaulted by their occupational therapy assistant.

Police accused the suspect of attending the victim’s home in Vaughan for a therapy session and assaulting the victim during the session.
Roza Hosseini, 36, of Richmond Hill, was charged Friday with assault.
Cops said the suspect works with multiple clients and investigators believe there may be additional victims. The suspect’s photo was released as a result.

Imitation firearm seized at basketball game
Durham Regional Police are searching for at least two suspects after a firearm was found following a fight at the Durham College Athletic Complex during a high school basketball game in Oshawa.

Cops said that on Monday at about 8:20 p.m., paid-duty members working at a high school basketball final responded to a fight in the lobby of the complex. Officers attempted to intervene, but two males fled and a firearm was found on the ground afterward and determined to be an imitation handgun.
No injuries were reported to police, who believe this was an isolated incident.

Window shot up at Milton home
Halton Regional Police are requesting the public’s assistance after a shooting in Milton.

On Feb. 21 at about 7:45 p.m., officers responded to a residence on Rose Way after the occupants reported hearing a loud bang.
Responding officers located two bullet holes in the residence’s front window, but there were no reported injuries or further reports of damage to adjacent residences.
Investigators believe this was a targeted incident and are requesting anyone with information regarding this investigation to contact police at 905-878-5511, Ext. 2316. Investigators are also asking for security or dashcam video from Feb. 21, showing the area of Britannia Rd. and/or Regional Rd. 25 between the hours of 7 p.m. and 8 p.m.
ATTEMPTED ROBBERY
York Regional Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a male suspect following an attempted commercial robbery in Newmarket.

On Feb. 21 at about 5:45 p.m., officers responded to reports of five suspicious males entering a shopping mall while wearing ski masks and brandishing hammers. The suspects were confronted by security and fled in a waiting Honda CR-V.
No robbery occurred and no injuries were reported.
Investigators are seeking information on a suspect allegedly linked to the attempted robbery and who was seen in the area without a mask. He has a thin build and dark, medium-length, curly hair and was wearing black clothing, black shoes and white socks.
